Flashing a Custom Rom via CWM(ClockworkMod)

Flashing a Custom Rom via CWM(ClockworkMod):-

Basic Requirements To Flash A CustomRom:-
  1. CWM (use skin 1980 ClockWorkModgot galaxy y)
  2. An update.zip/customrom.zip file for flasing...
  3. Basic knowledge like switching on your phone

So once you are ready with the above, U are ready to go..............

  1. Put your downloaded zip file (generally u get it from the rom thread) and your model's compatible CWM to the root of your sdcard , u must not, put the zip file in any of your folder it must be on the most exterior part of your sdcard.
  2. Turn off your device, and boot your device in recovery mode (by holding the volume up key, the home button of your phone and the power button all together ,{may be different in few devices}) after you see the galaxy "your mobile model" just leave all these buttons and wait a bit.
  3. You will be promoted to the recovery menu of your android device, in which the touch will not work, so you will need to toggle up and down via the volume keys(volume up for moving up and volume down for moving down) and the home button to select the item.
  4. Now once you have booted into the recovery mode, open apply update from sdcard and choose your CWM.zip file, now in the CWM go to Install Zip , From Sdcard and choose your Rom's zip file to flash, after it's flashed go back and select reboot system now.
  5. Your device will boot into your new rom, it can take much more time in the boot process as compared to casual one, but it will take time only for the first boot.

Note: You may need to wipe cache, data and delvik cache as per your rom requires.
